Waitangi Treaty

The Waitangi Treaty was signed on the 6th February 1840 at Bay Of Islands with the British Government and the Maori. Ever since the Treaty has been signed they have celebrated, such as people would go down and look at the Treaty. But now days they don't celebrate as much and made it as a public holiday. The British Government then learned how to get on with the Maori so they made a Treaty to give peace now we all live together as happy as we can be.It has been over 1,000 years since it has been signed and we have all learned lots about it so when people ask us what the Waitangi Treaty means we can give the lots of facts. These day a Treaty is like a contract you agree to rule and how things work for what you are signing it for.
